Two-Dimensional Hexagonal Structure of Boron Nitride Nanotubes and BNNT-Induced Phase Transition of Block Copolymer in BNNT/Block Copolymer Complex for Energy Harvesting

Since boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) were first manufactured, they have gained considerable attention for their wide-scale application as reinforcing composites, piezoelectric materials, electrical insulating thermal conductors, and neutron shielding materials because of excellent mechanical, electrical, thermal, absorption properties. Despite the remarkable properties broad scope BNNTs, use has been limited ineffective structural control due to presence one-dimensional nanoparticles. To overcome this limitation, we investigated an approach collective self-assembly BNNTs by using block copolymers (Pluronic P65 Pluronic P85) a template studied BNNT-induced phase behavior copolymer. For homogenous mixtures copolymers, encapsulated in situ polymerization surfactants (p-BNNTs), where overall structures confirmed small-angle scattering (SANS) atomic force microscopy (AFM) measurements. The p-BNNTs mixed with (at 50%, or centrifugation alternative directions form homogeneously complexes. Polarized optical (POM) X-ray (SAXS) measurements two-dimensional hexagonal structure copolymer matrix that self-assembled upon heating, which can give possibility being used effective energy harvesting. Moreover, addition be controlled, allowing formation hexagonal, face-centered cubic, body-centered cubic depending on BNNT concentration temperature. This study provides new simple method structure.
